Choose a weight of approximately 10 percent of your body weight as a starting point. Use it from the beginning of your wind-down routine, not only when already trying to sleep. Place it over your body so the weight is distributed evenly. Most people adjust within 3 to 5 nights.

Frequently asked questions

A general guide is around 10 percent of your body weight. A 7kg blanket suits most adults up to around 70kg. A 9kg or 11kg blanket suits heavier frames. If you are between weights, go lighter rather than heavier for your first weighted blanket.

Lighter weight options (7kg and under) can be machine washed on a gentle cycle. Heavier options should be taken to a commercial laundromat with a large capacity machine. Do not tumble dry on high heat.
